Cannabis sales across Colorado counties
Year over year sales growth in Colorado has been on the decline so far in 2022 through April, but what’s driving the decrease in demand? Here we see that some counties are seeing more dramatic declines than others, which can likely be attributed to nearby markets such as New Mexico (bordering Colorado on the south) and Arizona (directly southwest of Colorado) legalizing adult-use cannabis sales. Counties near the border were much more heavily impacted than the counties to the north. We might be seeing reductions in cannabis tourism in these counties, since residents of Arizona and New Mexico are now able to make legal purchases in their own home states.
